1. The United States of America. Geographical Position. Natural Features

The United States of America is the richest and most highly developed capitalist country in the world. It is at the same time the greatest exploiter of the peoples, the chief stronghold of present-day colonialism, the creator of numerous hotbeds of war in different parts of the world.

2. Population and Economic Activities

The majority of the people are of European descent. The common language is English.

3. Canada. Latin America

The greater part of the Canadians live in the south, near the United States border. The large industrial cities are situated in the neighbourhood of the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River. In the prairie provinces wheat is grown.
